HardGarden Studio was established in 2005 as the culmination of owner/engineer Jonny Tindall’s lifelong passion for music production; both his own & that of the amazing artists he’d had the joy of working with both on-stage & in studios throughout his decades-long career. The current incarnation of HardGarden Studio is a small, yet well-equipped & intimate environment designed specifically with independent, up-and-coming or student performers in mind; a creative space where you’d yearn to spend time.
From the standpoint of the performer; recording can often be a daunting task; at times distilling the energy of a live performance into something lesser. Because of this, Jonny set sights on developing a studio experience & recording techniques where creativity flows easily, yet cost & time factor in less. Perhaps the most critical stage of the production process, performance capture and audio quality are tantamount to the creation of a professional-quality recording. From advanced mic techniques to gain-staging & performance coaching…each leads to the finest representation of your creativity & drive.
Using state-of-the-art tools & techniques, as well as years of experience in performance, production & recording, we guide the artist toward their best performance as well as assist in tonality, composition, orchestration & recording decisions that will yield the best results in the final mixdown process.
Need a recording of a live performance? Want to record in a wine cave? Guess what? We can help! Our production expertise & relationship with local venues allows us entry to exclusive recording locations, or we can tap the front-of-house board at your next gig & bring multitrack audio back to the studio for editing & mixdown. WE LOVE LIVE!
Achieving a transparent, yet completely balanced final mix can be a never-ending task for any performer or audio engineer. A trained ear, cued toward detail & artistry is necessary to achieve the sound & feel you’re after. From noise-reduction & gating, to quantizing, triggering, equalization & post-production effects; every step of the mixdown process adds a tapestry of color to your blank sonic canvas.
Applying each of these techniques methodically & tastefully should always be a partnership between mix engineer & performer, but we feel it’s our responsibility to guide you through this daunting process, avoiding pitfalls that would otherwise leave your creations sounding flat & lifeless.

From Marjo Aho: Serenity is an animation inspired by the story behind the lyrics to Adrian Rogers’ song “Serenity.” The name derives from a once-beautiful sailboat that sat abandoned in Salt River on St. Croix, USVI, until it eventually sank. I envisioned how even after the sinking of the boat, it sailed on adventuring in the wonders among the mangroves and bioluminescence of the Salt River Bay. Perhaps the idea that our grandest adventures are over when we physically wither is just an illusion and the grandest adventures are in realms we encounter once we metaphorically “sink”?
The soundtrack to the animation is actually not the song it was inspired by, but original music, also written by Adrian Rogers, specifically for this animation. Made with Disco Diffusion over 31 days, just before the “colabocalypse” in the fall of 2022.
